NEW: Liz Statement Necklace

I have been asked by many brides – where can I get the necklace that Liz wore in her wedding??   FINALLY…I purchased materials, found some uninterrupted time and designed a necklace!  The Liz Statement Necklace is lightweight and made with both freshwater and faux pearls, crystals and various textured chains.  It measures 20″ with a 2.5″ extension.  My version is not as thick as her original necklace so you can wear it TWO ways – with the strands straight…or twisted…both look amazing!  Price is $142.00  Available now at OWDJewelry.Etsy.com!  Ship time is two weeks from date of order.

I can CUSTOMIZE the necklace by adding a vintage style leaf chain (reminds me of a winery/garden wedding) OR by changing the pearls to Swarovski glass pearls in your color.  Coming soon…matching necklace and headband!  I’d love your feedback – let me know what you think…I am open to your suggestions 🙂

Featured on Style Me Pretty – Amanda and Eric!

One of my Etsy brides’ wedding “Geological Inspired” was featured on Style Me Pretty!  Amanda and Eric have a passion for all things geological and used this detail to weave throughout their wedding decor that gave it that special touch! Geologic specimens (yes ~ rocks!) marked the tables, were used in her bouquet, the boutonnieres, and were the cohesive element that tied it all together.  All the photos below of Amanda and Eric’s beautiful wedding were taken by Kristen Penner Photography – see more of her fantastic photography at KristenPenner.com.

You can tell Amanda focused on the details:  besides the ‘rock’ inspired theme,  her gown’s bodice floral embellishment was mirrored on the cake…her jewelry, made by another Etsy artist Patrick Irla Jewelry…and on her comb – made by me 🙂   Amanda wore my Jordan Pearl Flower Hair Comb – made with rhinestone leaves, Swarovski crystals and a Keishi pearl flower.  Amanda looked amazingly beautiful, don’t you agree?    Visit Style Me Pretty to see the full gallery of photos…enjoy!

Vintage Style Teresa Feather Fascinator

Bride Katie visited my shop for a custom hair accessory – something vintage and matching her beautiful earrings!  My Teresa Feather Fascinator was the perfect look – I embellished the ivory feather fascinator with one of my Vanessa Rhinestone Hairpins.  Katie hired Maria Chang of Professional Makeup Artistry and, with Maria’s magical touch, Katie looked amazingly beautiful on her wedding day 🙂  Photo of Katie and Matt by Jennifer Skog Photography.

Bridal Hair Flowers – Size and Shape Does Matter!

As with all hair accessories, hair flowers need to compliment your look and not overpower it.  This means wearing the right size and shape of flower that works with your hair style and is in proportion to your body size.  A customized fabric flower helps to pull your ‘look’ together from head to toe and adds that extra touch that will look great in your wedding photos.  No matter what time of year, a fabric flower will look good from the beginning of your day and still look fabulous when you leave at the end of your reception.  Browse my Etsy shop for bridal flowers that can be customized to get just the right look for your wedding day.

Some things to consider when choosing a hair flower:

a.  Customized bridal flowers need to be the right size and shape.  A large hair flower could overpower your look – you want people looking at ‘all of you’ and your face, not just at the large flower in your hair.   Its so important to bring your hair accessories, or a few of your favorites, to your hair trial.  Working with your hair stylist, you can be assured the flower size and shape compliments your hair style, especially if you are changing hair styles from ceremony to reception and using the same flower.

b.  Customized flowers reflect your personality – you might wear one flower throughout the day or change your hair style and add a ‘statement flower’ just for your reception.  A flower that is colorful, has more sparkle or has feathers says to your reception guests, “Its time to have fun!”

c.  Embellish the center of your flower with beads, crystals, vintage jewelry, pearls – jewels that compliment your dress and coordinate with your wedding day jewelry.  A colored flower or colored center embellishment can pull in your wedding day theme and add to your look.
